DAY BEFORE AND DAY OF PROCEDURE
-
We suggest washing your hair before your appointment. You will not be able to get your eyebrows wet for at least 2 weeks.
-
DO NOT work out.
-
DO NOT consume alcohol or caffeine. Doing so will cause you to bleed which pushes the pigment out and results in less color retention.
-
DO NOT take Aspirin, IBUprofen, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil or any blood thinning medication.
-
Do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the eyeliner procedure. Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes return to their pre-tattooed condition.
-
Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.
1-2 WEEKS BEFORE PROCEDURE
-
If you don’t feel well in general, have a cold or any symptoms of sickness, please contact us to reschedule your appointment.
-
If you have any irritation or blemishes in your eyebrows,
-
No waxing or tinting 3 days before the procedure.
-
No tweezing/ waxing at least 48 hours before procedure; electrolysis no less than five days before. Do not resume any method of hair removal for at least two weeks.
-
Eyelash or eyebrow tinting or eyelash curling should be done no sooner than 48 hours before, or at least two weeks after the procedure.
-
Botox should be performed no sooner than at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
-
Microneedling should be done no sooner than 2 weeks prior to procedure.
3-4 WEEKS BEFORE PROCEDURE
-
You must stop taking antibiotics 3 weeks from your procedure. Please consult your doctor before doing so.
-
No laser procedures or peels should be done 4 weeks prior to the procedure. Your skin needs to be fully healed.
-
No intentional tanning 4-weeks prior to application. If you get sunburn on your face, you must allow at least 4-weeks for it to heal.
-
Please DO NOT use other products or follow other artists’ aftercare instructions. Through my own personal experience, these instructions will give you the best results!
-
DO NOT splash or run water directly on your eyebrows while washing your face or in the shower for 2 weeks OR as long as you have scabs. You DO NOT want the scabs to get soggy. If it gets wet, dry the area immediately! Avoid prolong showers. It's better to wash your hair separately from the shower.
-
DO NOT pick or scratch the scabs/dry skin/flakiness!!! Let the flakes fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring, premature loss of pigment or hair, and even an infection.
-
DO NOT exercise or sweat (including any activities/sports that may be a work out including shoveling, skating, skiing, biking, etc.) for 2 weeks OR as long as you still have a scab. Working out slows down the healing process.
-
Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days and make sure you’re sleeping on a clean pillowcase.
-
DO NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 14 days OR until you still have scabs. Makeup will suffocate and won’t allow the area to breathe and heal properly causing irritation and excessive scabbing. Also if you still have scabs and apply makeup it can cause infection.
-
DO NOT receive eyebrow tinting, waxing for 2 weeks
-
NO facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
-
DO NOT use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHA’s on the area for 30 days after the appointment. It will fade your tattoo prematurely. Please, apply all skincare products a finger away from the brows.
-
Avoid saunas, pools, and steam rooms.
After care
Healing Schedule
Immediately After:
-
The area will feel like a sunburn. You may take an Advil to help alleviate any swelling or apply a clean icepack washed with anti-bacterial soap and wrapped in paper towel to the treated area only if necessary.
DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. This is a 2-step, sometimes multiple step process. It takes time. BE PATIENT. During your 2-week healing process your brows will change and appear different from day to day, THIS IS NORMAL. The full healing period is 4 to 5 weeks.
You may experience the following symptoms for about 4 days.
-
Minor swelling and redness
-
Mild tenderness
-
Itchiness in the eyebrow area
-
Dry flaking skin
These symptoms are normal part of the healing process.
Remember, your selected color will be stronger and more sharply defined for 10-14 days after procedure, but as healing process occurs the color will soften and lighten.
The approximate scabbing period is 14 days, however healing can be prolonged if you’re immune system is compromised, if you are generally stressed, and by poor diet.
Keep in mind, that in many cases some unevenness of color is to be expected. This is the purpose of the Follow up Touch Up visit, allowing us to perfect your enhancement. This is included in the initial cost if you come in a 5-8 weeks time frame.
Approximate* Day Effect
DAY 1 to 3: Immediately after your procedure brows will appear darker and more defined. Color will gradually get darker day by day and up to 50-60% darker than the final result. Your brow tattoo can appear more solid THIS IS NORMAL.
DAY 4 to 14: Around this time you will experience scabbing and your brows may look dry and flakey. DO NOT PICK on your scabs; let them fall off naturally. If scabbing gets picked off prematurely, it will result in missing hair stokes
•Your brow tattoo will take up to 4-8 weeks to fully heal. When the scabbing comes off the hair strokes may seem faded this is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the brow tattoo. Give your brows a few weeks and the hair strokes will become clearer.
•Not everyone’s hair stoke brows can heal clean and crisp. Hair strokes for oilier skin types tend to heal more powdery while drier skin types tend to heal more crisp and defined. Also for those who bleed more may tend to need more touchups as the blood pushes the pigment out while we tattoo.
Everyone heals differently. The final outcome depends on your skin type, after care and your lifestyle.
